West Indies middle-order batter Sherfane Rutherford is set to leave the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be with his family after the demise of his father.

The 23-year-old will leave the bio-bubble to travel back to the Caribbean, his franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad announced on Thursday.

“The #SRH family conveys its heartfelt condolences to Sherfane Rutherford and his family on the passing away of his father. Sherfane will be leaving the IPL bio-bubble to be with his family in this difficult hour,” SRH wrote on their official Twitter page.

The left-hander was brought in as a replacement by Hyderabad after England's Johnny Bairstow pulled out of the UAE leg of the tournament.

Rutherford has previously featured for Dehli Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the previous editions of the IPL. He had a decent season in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with two half-centuries.
