In order to create space in their international calendar for the World Test Championship final and bilateral series' that were postponed last year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to pull out from the Asia Cup 2021 scheduled to take place this year.

The Men in Blue are alive in the race for the WTC final and the Grand Finale is scheduled to take place in the mid of June at the Lord's Cricket Ground.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had postponed the Asia Cup last year and it was moved to 2021. The authorities are now working towards securing June 2021 as the best possible window for the competition.

Although nothing has been finalized as of now, still the broadcasters are going to be very upset if the BCCI pulls out of the Asia Cup 2021. Due to the financial benefit behind broadcasting Indo-Pak matches, the broadcasters are in dire need of Asia Cup 2021 happening this year.

The BCCI is also looking to compensate the broadcasters by planning to reschedule some of the postponed bilateral series from last year and a home series against Sri Lanka is on the cards as well.

The hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2020 were exchanged between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) last year and according to the agreement, the SLC now holds the rights to host the rescheduled Asia Cup expected to take place in June 2021. Whereas, the PCB will host the next edition of the tournament in 2022.
