After breaking the 37-year old record for most runs in a single Quaid-e-Azam trophy season, Kamran Ghulam is all set to feature in the home Test series against South Africa.

The talented batting all-rounder scored 1249 in the recently concluded QeA Trophy breaking the record of Saadat Ali who scored 1217 runs in the 1983-84 season. Ghulam was also named domestic cricketer of the year in recently held PCB’s Annual Awards. He has been rewarded for his brilliant season as he was named among 9 other uncapped players in the squad for the series against the Proteas.

Kamran scored five-centuries and five half-centuries and averaged 62 in QeA trophy this season. He also has an overall average of 50.27 in first-class cricket. He was picked in the Pakistan U19 squad for the tour of England in 2013 and he also played in the Asia Cup U19 tournament that year.

Kamran's 102* in the final of the U19 Asia Cup against India brought him to the limelight and he finished the tournament with 217 runs, averaging 72. The 25-year old batsman from Upper-Dir is over the moon at his selection for the national team.

“Getting into the 20-player squad out of a population of 220 million people in a historic series is something for me and my family to celebrate and enjoy." Ghulam said while talking to pcb.com.pk.

He's also happy that domestic cricket has been valued and respected by the current selection committee and hopes that it will motivate other domestic players to perform.

“I am glad that domestic cricket is being valued and respected, and my selection will give boost to other domestic players to perform and progress to the international stage. At the end of the day, 11 best and most suited players will feature in the first Test, but the remaining nine will continue to enjoy being part of the elite group, considered good enough to represent Pakistan.” Ghulam concluded.
