Cricket is termed as a game of gentlemen but, the history is full of ugly incidents on the field where players get involved physically and verbally with each other.

The latest incident that surprised the cricketing fraternity was the on-field spat between the former U19 captain of Afghanistan Naveen ul Haq and Pakistan’s premier pacer Mohammad Amir in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

At the end of the match, Naveen was seeing arguing with Amir and the captain of Galle Gladiators Shahid Afridi also interfered with a couple of heated words with the Afghan pacer.

Later, Afridi took to Twitter and advised the youngsters not to indulge in kind of on-field quarrel and be respectful to each other.

“My advice to the young player was simple, play the game and don't indulge in abusive talk. I have friends in Afghanistan team and we have very cordial relations. Respect for teammates and opponents are the basic spirit of the game,” Afridi tweeted.

Naveen responded quickly to Afridi’s advice and revealed what actually happened to the field. According to him, Amir was disrespectful towards him and his country.

“Always ready to take advice and give respect, Cricket is a gentleman’s game but if someone says you all are under our feet and will stay their then he is not only talking about me but also talking abt my ppl,” he said.

The incident took place in the game between Galle Gladiators and Kandy Tuskers that was eventually won by Tuskers.
