Pakistan’s legendary former fast bowler, Wasim Akram has been named as the mentor of the Lanka Premier League franchise Galle Gladiators.

The franchise will be coached by former wicket-keeper batsman Moin Khan, who is also the coach of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League. Another ex-captain of Pakistan, Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead the team while Azam Khan – son of Quetta’s coach is in the team as wicket-keeper batsman. 

The franchise is owned by Nadeem Omar, who also owns Quetta Gladiators in PSL.

The draft for the players is expected to be held on October 19, Monday which is likely to include 30 foreign players with the like of Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Darren Sammy, Shakib-al-Hasan.

The League will be played among 5 teams. The names of the teams are after the Sri Lankan cities of Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Dambulla and Jaffna.
