South Africa’s young pacer Anrich Nortje is currently busy playing his trade for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The 26-year old has been incredible for the Capitals so far in the tournament and during their clash against Rajasthan Royals, he delivered a 156 kph rocket to bamboozle Jos Buttler.

This is the fastest delivery ever recorded in the history of the tournament and now Nortje claims that he is aiming to break the world record of the Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar.

Akhtar bowled a 161.3 kph delivery against England in the ICC 2003 ODI World Cup and it is currently the fastest delivery ever bowled in any form of cricket.

Anrich believes that he can overcome this feat.

“Hopefully it's something I've got in me and it's definitely something I've wanted to do. Maybe a good wicket, some adrenaline, the right combination and I can do it this IPL or maybe in the future.” he said.

Nortje broke his hero and fellow South African Dale Steyn’s record of 154.5 kph in the 2012 edition while playing for the now defunct Deccan Chargers.

“I didn't know about the 156kph until after the game. Obviously there was nothing on the scoreboard. It would've been a bit of help to get the blood flowing. But, I've got no idea.”

Delhi Capitals are currently sitting at the top of the points table in the IPL 2020 with seven victories out of nine games.
