Pakistan’s newly appointed limited-overs captain has revealed that he wants to imitate and follow the footsteps of the legendary Greens’ captain, Imran Khan.

The 25-year old said that during his playing days, the current Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan would always favor the aggressive style and instill confidence in his younger teammates.

“When players are praised, they get the courage [to perform well],” the superstar batsman said, emphasizing that "relaxed and confident players deliver better performances."

It is important to mention that the world cup winning captain Khan was naturally aggressive and blunt while Azam has a rather riper and soft-spoken personality.

Azam also stated that he wants to work on building a strong team more than his own self and care.

“More than my own performance, I now have to work for the team,” he said.

Azam is currently with the national team in England where they are scheduled to play three Tests and as many T20Is.
