The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to hand over the regime of limited overs cricket to the young and dynamic batsman Babar Azam. Head Coach and Chief Selector Misbah ul Haq feels that Babar is best suited to lead by example as he is the best batsman in the team.

"The way I look at it, being a top batsman he is best suited to lead the team by example and this would make it easier for him to also take strong decisions and for the team to follow him," said Misbah.

He also added that the additional pressure of captaincy is not going to affect the batting performance of the Pakistani stalwart.

"Making Babar captain of the T20 team last year was a tester really. We wanted to see how he will respond to the challenge and how it will affect his batting," he added.

Misbah believes that Babar has responded well to the responsibility of captaincy and he is only going to get better with each and every match.

"But all of us agreed that he handled the pressure well and if anything the responsibility of being captain only made him show more responsibility as a batsman," he stated.

The right-hander has been one of the most prolific run scorers for Pakistan across all formats and the new management had decided to relieve Sarfraz Ahmed of his captaincy job last year and Babar was given the responsibility to lead Pakistan in T20Is. He is now appointed as the new ODI skipper as well and he will resume his cricket as a captain in the forthcoming limited overs series.
