Former Pakistan fast bowler and South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs go down the memory lane to recall a mesmerizing moment during the 2000 Sharjah clash between the two sides.

The duo took social media platform – Twitter – to share their experiences as @cricketracker shared a template of a unique record regarding the aforementioned match.

“Pakistan bowled out South Africa in 2000 Sharjah ODI without dismissing any of the opener. Herschelle Gibbs remained unbeaten while Gary Kirsten was retired hurt.”

This particular match made Pakistan the only team who have won an ODI without dismissing any of the opposition’s opening batsmen.

Gibbs quoted retweet this above-mentioned template remembering the Akhtar spell from the match.

‘One @shoaib100mph spell did the damage!’

To which, Akhtar replied:

“Do you remember how hot it was @hershybru? It wasn't even a spell, it was one over. Lol. In such weather conditions, I was always in a hurry”

Gibbs prolonged the humor with his reply:

“You brought the heat brotherman! All you chirped was “cmon gibbsy hit me in front of square“ but I ran out of partners which didn’t help”

Akhtar then commemorate the fun they had on the field.

“Good times man! I hope is all is well in these crazy times we are living in now.”

Pakistan won the match by 67 runs giving a modest target of 169 runs, after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. In response, the Proteas were dismissed for only 101 runs after an inspired spell of fast-bowling from Akhtar — who claimed three wickets for nine in 4.5 overs.
