Where in the first semifinal Haris Rauf excelled in defending 8 off the last over, an experienced campaigner in Umaid Asif failed in defending 18 off the last over in the second semifinal

Having won the toss, the returning captain Haris Sohail decided to bowl first and put Southern into bat.

Thanks to the old heads - Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik, Southern were able to reach a competitive total of 173. The duo shared a 72 run partnership or the 3rd wicket. Ali Shafiq was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2/31 in his four.

It was only the second time, Mohammad Hafeez (65) and Shoaib Malik (64), both scored a fifty for the same team in a T20. The first one was against India in December 2012.

Imam (10) and Bismillah (11) failed to give Balochistan the start they wanted but Awais Zia and Imran Farhat went at almost 9 in over in a partnership worth 55 runs for the 3rd wicket. They threatened to take the game away from Southern before Farhat lost his cool and got stumped. Awais soon followed him back to the pavilion as Balochistan were 79/4 in 9.4 overs.

Haris and Hussain Talat involve in a 52 run partnership as the required run rate went over 10. However, as long as Hussain Talat was there Balochistan stood a chance.

Wahab Riaz dismissed the danger man Hussain but who knew the danger was still there - Amad Butt. What transpired after was something extraordinary as Umaid Asif was unable to defend 18 off the last over as Amad hit him for 2 fours and 2 maximums, including one on the last ball to take Balochistan into the National T20 final to face Northern and rightly getting the player of the match award for his 29 off 14 balls.
