It’s getting extremely intriguing as the Lahore fans are gearing up for their final group stage clash against the Multan Sultans who have already qualified for the semi-finals. So far, in the five-year history of the PSL, the Qalandars haven’t been able to qualify for the playoffs.

They ended at the bottom in the previous four editions of the competition but the PSL 2020 has drastically changed their fortunes. When they come out to play against the Sultans on Sunday, they will have an opportunity of qualifying for the semi-finals for the first time.

The Lahore based franchise suffered a humiliating defeat against the Karachi Kings in their last encounter and they will surely look to rectify their mistakes and come back harder against the Sultans. Lahore’s all overseas player will be able, which will be a boost for them as Ben Dunk and Chris Lynn are important part of their squad but the Multan Sultans won’t have the services of James Vince and Rilee Rossouw.

Moeen Ali, Ravi Bopara and Imran Tahir participated in the match against Peshawar Zalmi that was played behind closed doors and they are likely to be available for the rest of the tournament as well.

We saw a pretty new looking Multan side in the absence of Vince and Rossouw as youngsters like Rohail Nazir was given an opportunity to showcase his talent at the top of the order. Ali Shafiq, the young pace sensation from Multan Sultans also performed with the bowl and defended 13 runs in the last over. He also took 2 important wickets in his 4-over spell conceding 31 runs.

Over the years, the Qalandars and Sultans have produced some enthralling encounters and we’re hoping for another cracking match at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. The head to head score is 3-2 in favor of Multan and the Sohail Akhtar led franchise will surely look to equal that record with a memorable victory.
