On September 19, 1998, Shahid Afridi notched up his second ODI century in the fourth match of the Sahara Cup against arch-rivals India to pave way for a commanding win in Toronto

After winning the toss, India asked Pakistan to bat first and would have been happy with the start as they got rid of Saeed Anwar in the third over. Despite losing an early wicket, Shahid Afridi took the attack to the Indian bowlers and started dispatching them to all parts of the ground. Afridi, Along with captain Aamer Sohail added 141 runs for the second wicket to lay a perfect platform for a big score. Afridi finished with 109 off 94 balls with seven boundaries and six maximums.

Inzamam ul Haq took over from there and compiled a daunting 78 off 75. He was ably assisted by Salim Malik who scored 39 off 37. The right-handers in partnership added 103 runs in just 78 balls to take Pakistan to a formidable 316/6 in their 50 overs.

In reply, India had a sluggish start to their innings courtesy a disciplined new ball bowling from Aaqib Javed and Azhar Mahmood. Sourav Ganguly got bowled by Azhar trying to break the shackles in the eight over. Nayan Mongia soon followed edging one from Aaqib. The only notable partnership for India was between Navjot Sidhu and captain Mohammad Azharuddin. 

The duo added 78 runs for the third wicket tp tale their team to 110. But as soon they were dismissed by Aamer Sohail, the Indian batting line collapsed. Amid pressure, Rahul Dravid and  Hrishikesh Kanitkar both got run out by Shahid Afridi as they were bundled out for just 182 runs in the 46th over giving Pakistan a comprehensive 134 run win an unassailable 3-1 lead in the Sahara Cup.

Saqlain Mushtaq was the pick of the bowlers as he ended with figures of 3/20 in 9 overs. Aamer Sohail bagged two prized scalps of Azharuddin and Sidhu. Muhammad Zahid got the stick as the pacer leaked 25 runs in three overs. Shahid Afridi was adjudged as the player of the match.
